Bacteria in a Bottle

Case #1: Exponential Growth

Experiment #2; The Effect of Growth Rate

In this experiment different growth rates are examined for their effect on the exponential growth curve seen in Experiment #1.
  1. Change the number in the "Growth Rate" box to the following value; 0.4, but keep the initial population size at a value of 1 and use a new "Time" interval of 13.
  2. Record your results and plot a new graph of this growth curve.
  3. Repeat this procedure using "Growth Rate" values of; 0.3, and 0.6, 0.7, and 0.8.
  4. In each case adjust the time intervals (add more or remove some) so that your graph never goes above 270 for the number of bacterial (ignore the very large numbers you get at the longer time intervals for now).
  5. You should now have 6 curves, all on the same piece of graph paper.
