Professor John Blamire
Professor of Biology

Biography
- Professor Blamire graduated from the University of Manchester in England with a Batchelor's degree in Biological Chemistry and a PhD in Nucleic Acid fractionation.
- His research interests range from Cell Biology to the use of computers in simulating biological phenomena.
- He has published over 40 research papers in scientific journals and two introductory biology text books.
- He was a Tow Professor at Brooklyn College for two years.
- He lectures in Core Biology, is the Chairman of the Biology Department, and advises on the use of computers in academic programs.
- He is currently working on a wide ranging project to bring multimedia into the Biology curriculum.
- He created this website and all that you see in it.
- He speaks in a funny English accent...

Professor Charlene Forest

Biography
- Professor Forest graduated from Cornell University.
- She studied with Professor Rober Togasaki at Indianna University where she obtained a Ph.D. using algae as topic for research.
- At Harvard University Professor Forest did postdoctoral research with Professor Ursula Goodenough on the cell biology of the organism Chlamydomonas
- She came to Brooklyn College in 1979.
- Professor Forest's current research studies fertilization in algae and cell to cell interactions.
- Her busy laboratory is home to several graduate and undergraduate research students.
- She was one of the originators of the Core 8.1 Biology program at Brooklyn College.
- She is interested in cats, orchids and Chinese brush painting.
Dr Catherine McEntee

Biography
- Dr. McEntee did her undergraduate work at Newmann College in Aston Pennsylvania.
- She did her graduate work at the Medical College of Pennsylvania on the regulation of gene transcription in yeast mitochondria.
- Her mentor and graduate advisor was Dr. Alan Hudson.
- Dr. McEntee then did postdoctoral research in the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton under the guidance of Dr. James Broach.
- She studied the regulation of trehalase (an enzyme) in yeast.
- Her busy schedule does not allow much time for hobbies, but she enjoys weekend crosswords, cooking, hiking and animals.
- She is currently the Director of Research and Program Co-ordinator for the STEP and CSTEP programs at Brooklyn College.
