Endocytosis
Fluids and large particles of solid are taken up into cells by a process of invagination. Endocytosis occurs when a region of the cell membrane folds inwards, trapping an exterior particle in a vesicle. Exocytosis occurs when an internal vesicle fuses with the plasma membrane expelling its contents to the outside.
