| Eukaryotic cells are much larger than prokaryotic cells and they are subdivided into a number of internal compartments or 'organelles'. One of the most prominent of these is the nucleus where the chromosomes and DNA are stored and used. Within the cytoplasm are a range of organelles that are specialized for various functions. |
