The total amount of energy available is the difference between the heat in the hot region and the cold region A. However, the heat actually moves from the hot region to a different region, B which is not as cold. This is the 'available' energy in this system. The remaining heat or energy (from B to A) is never used, it is 'unavailable' and called entropy.
