The Commencement Exercises and the installation of Christoph M. Kimmich as
the President of Brooklyn College will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2000, from
10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

Graduates must assemble at their designated location by 9:45 a.m. 
Ticket and I.D. card must be presented at the gate to gain entrance. 
The gates to the Quadrangle will open at 9:30 a.m.  Once the academic 
procession begins, guests will not be admitted to the quadrangle until all
the graduates have been seated. It is, therefore, advisable for guests to 
arrive well before the start of Commencement.

Marshals, will be present to assist the graduates and to lead the academic procession.

  The order of the academic procession is as follows:
  
  Candidates for the Master of Arts and Master of Science Degrees
  
  Candidates for the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science Degrees

  Members of the Faculty
  
  Representatives of the 50th Anniversary graduation class, Class of 1950

  The Dais:

  Guest Speakers and Honored Guests
  
  Members of the College Administration Chairpersons Accompanied by 
  the Brooklyn College Brass Ensemble.
											
  The Recessional will be in reverse order.

Caps and gown pick up

I.D. CARDS MUST BE PRESENTED IN ORDER TO PICK UP CAPS & GOWNS.
	
Candidates for the Baccalaureate Degree

Caps and gowns for candidates receiving the BACHELOR OF ARTS or BACHELOR 
OF SCIENCE Degree may be purchased from the Brooklyn College Bookstore,
(718) 951-5150, beginning Monday, May 8, 2000 from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.,
except on Fridays, when they may be purchased 
from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  
Candidates for the bachelor's degree retain their caps and gowns. 
The price of the "Keepsake Set" is $24.84.

Candidates for the Master's Degree

Candidates for MASTER'S Degrees rent and return their gowns.  
The total rental fee is $39.35. Master's degree candidates are requested to fill 
out the enclosed order form and to submit both copies of it, together
with a check made payable to the Brooklyn College Bookstore.  
Please mail or bring your check and order form to the Brooklyn College Bookstore, 
2900 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11210 as soon as you receive this letter.

A deposit of $40.00 -- check or money order only (no cash accepted) will be required
at the time of pick up and will be refunded when gowns are returned on 
the day of Commencement.

Distribution of Diplomas

The Office of the Registrar notifies graduates by mail when diplomas are available. 
Graduates are advised to pick up their diplomas in person. 
If you wish to have someone receive your diploma on your behalf, that individual 
is required to have written authorization from you as well as evidence 
of personal identification.  

After you have received notification that your diploma is available,
you may then present your credentials to the Office of the Registrar,
Room 1118 Boylan Hall.
Office hours: Monday, and Thursday 9:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; 
Wednesday and Thursday, 9:30 a.m. - 6:45 p.m.; and Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.;
