About Noel Levitz
Welcome to the page for Brooklyn College Student Satisfaction Analysis tables. These tables have been compiled from the responses given to two survey, the Student Satisfaction Inventory (SSI), and the Institutional Priorities Survey (IPS), which we conducted in the Spring 2002 semester. Both surveys were developed by Noel-Levitz, a consulting firm that specializes in student analysis and retention strategies. For this reason, we often refer to these tables as "Noel-Levitz" tables.
The SSI asks students to indicate their level of satisfaction with a range of items about their experiences at Brooklyn College. For each item in the survey, students evaluated some aspect of the Brooklyn College experience using a one-to-seven scale (from least to most) on two dimensions: how satisfied they were with that aspect of Brooklyn College, and how important it was to them. On the IPS, faculty, staff, and administration indicated, in their estimation, how students would response to a series of similar items. The Noel-Levitz Highlights summarizes the responses to both surveys, indicating to us which aspects of Brooklyn College are our strongest, which aspects present opportunities for change, and which aspects were responded to most similarly on the SSI and IPS.
The Item-By-Scale table provides mean importance, satisfaction, and performance gap scores for each item on the SSI. Performance gap refers to the difference between the importance and satisfaction scores. In addition, the items are grouped together with similar items in scales. This provides an opportunity to draw observations about student satisfaction at Brooklyn College from a more general standpoint. The purpose of the Noel-Levitz tables is to provide information about the specific areas where students most want Brooklyn College to improve.
