About Us
The Brooklyn College Office of Facilities Planning and Operations is responsible for the safety, maintenance and ongoing improvement of the physical campus, including fourteen buildings,soon to be fifteen, that occupy 2,393,609 square feet of space, which is situated on twenty-six acres. Facilities also cleans, maintains and provides landscaping for all campus grounds. Responsibilities are discharged by staff in five departments:
- Office of the Assistant Vice President, Facilities Planning and Operations,
- Facilities Space Planning/Facilities Planning and Construction
- Custodial and Grounds Operations
- Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
- Trades (carpenters, electricians, painters, plumbers, lampers)
- Planning and Construction
Following is a brief description of each group, with a link to the staff in that group and more details about their duties and responsibilities.

Office of the Assistant Vice President
The Assistant Vice President oversees all the departmetns and develops and administers comprehensive long- and short-term plans for the maintenance of the physical campus, including complete renovations, upgrades and repairs. These plans include both the interior and exterior of all buildings as well as the campus grounds.

Facilities Space Planning and Construction
Facilities Space Planning / Facilities Plannning and Construction Planning and Construction represents the Brooklyn College campus for all State- and City-funded projects. The staff coordinates all such activities with the CUNY central office and DASNY (Dormitory Authority of New York). The department also designs, manages and coordinates smaller projects initiated and funded by the college administration and departments.

Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
HVAC operates and maintains the heating and cooling systems campus-wide, including the primary equipement in the Heating and Chiller Plants and the secondary equipment in all other campus buildings.

Custodial and Grounds Operations
Custodial and Grounds Operations cleans twelve campus buildings and grounds and designs and maintains all landscaping. The department also provides moving and set-up services for special events, including graduation, seminars, meetings, etc.

Trades
The Trades department, consists of carpenters, electricians, painters, plumbers and lampers, maintains and repairs the interior and exterior of all campus buildings.

Adminstrative Staff for Operations
The administrative staff in Facilities Operations provides administrative support (scheduling, paperwork, clerical, etc.) for Custodial/Grounds, HVAC and Trades.
