Repairs
A repair is fixing something that exists. It is not an improvement, upgrade or renovation. For example, fixing a non-working electrical outlet is repair; while installing an additional outlet is an improvement. Requests for repairs must be initiated through the Work Request system located in the Facilities website. If you have questions about what can be done, please call after the Work Request is placed and you have obtained a WR number for reference. The number to call after the Work Order has been placed is x5885.
Facilities receives on average 30 to 50 requests daily. Please understand that requests are prioritized according to need, and availability of staff.
Event set-ups
Event set-ups are the tables, chairs and waste cans that are needed for a special event such as registration, BC Employee Appreciation day, or something smaller like a student clubs event on the East Quad or bake sale by a club.
Requests for event set-ups must be initiated through the Work Request system in the Facilities website. If you have questions about what can be done and when, please call after the Work Request is placed and you have obtained a WR number for reference. The number to call after the Work Order has been placed is x5885.
Please note that it is necessary to give Grounds Operations a 2 week advance notice through the Work Request system. Contacting Facilities Operations at the last minute could result in not enough staff, or not enough event furniture being available for your needs.
Furniture and Equipment moves
Furniture moves are done by Grounds Operations in conjunction with Property Management. Property Management transfer forms need to be completed for equipment with BRO numbered scan-tags before it can be moved. It is the requesting party’s responsibility to contact Property Management for forms. Work Requests must be placed in advance to allow the move to be scheduled. The advance notice Facilities needs depends upon the amount of furniture or equipment to be moved. Several pieces would require two days notice, while moving an entire office or classroom will require a week’s notice.
If there are questions concerning the move, please call after the Work Request is placed and you have obtained a WR number for reference. The number to call is x5885.
Custodial Requests (non-emergency)
Custodial requests need to be requested through the Work Request system unless they are an emergency, such as a spill, and active leak or over flow. After placing the Work Request, calls can be made to x5885 to learn additional information. Please note that all class rooms and toilets are cleaned everyday. However, after the space is used, it may not be as clean as it was in the morning or immediately after it was cleaned. We encourage everyone to use waste receptacles and pick up after themselves. If additional trash receptacles are required in public spaces, please call x5885 to make the request.
Requests for all work, except emergencies and “Hot and Cold” calls, should be placed through the Brooklyn College Website. This includes everything else. The reason for this request is to help Facilities track and analyze the type of work that is requested by the campus.
