| Following are the general policies and procedures for
requesting service and changes or to report service or equipment problems.
Please note that many situations require access to a room that may
be locked. If no one is present at the time of a scheduled appointment
to provide access to a locked room, the department head will be informed
of the delay and the appointment will be rescheduled.

To report telephone problems
- Inform your department head and provide an explanation of the
problem
- Provide the name of the contact person in your department
- Schedule an appointment to access the room, if necessary
- Have the department head call 718.951.5010 with all the information.
NOTE Phone repairs have a two-day response time.
To move, add or change a MAC connection
- Inform your department head and provide an explanation of the
type of service required
- Provide the name of the contact person in your department
- Schedule an appointment to access the room, if necessary
- Have the department head contact Telecom via interoffice memo

NOTE MAC orders have an eight-day response time.
To install special services (ISDN, DSL, T-1, Private Telephone
Lines)
- Inform your department head and provide an explanation of the
type of service required
- Provide the name of the contact person in your department
- Schedule an appointment to access the room, if necessary
- Have the department head contact Telecom via interoffice memo

NOTE Special services are subject to approval by the VP
of Finance & Administration.
To obtain a cell phone
- Inform your department head and provide a detailed explanation
of the type of service required and justification of the service
- Schedule an appointment to access the room, if necessary
- Have the department head contact Telecom via interoffice memo
to Heneith Samuel or e-mail: HSamuel @brooklyn.cuny.edu
- A cell phone package plan will be discussed in person with
a representative from Telecom
NOTE Cell phone accounts are subject to approval by the
VP of Finance & Administration.
To obtain a pager
- Inform your department head and provide a detailed explanation
of the type of service required and justification for the service
- Schedule an appointment to access the room, if necessary
- Have the department head contact Telecom via interoffice memo

- A pager package plan will be discussed in person with a representative
from Telecom
NOTE Pager accounts are subject to approval by the VP of
Finance & Administration.
To change class of service to phone(s)
- Request approval for change of service class from your department
head with an explanation and justification for the change
- Have the department head contact Telecom via interoffice memo
to Heneith Samuel or e-mail: HSamuel @brooklyn.cuny.edu
NOTE Each department is responsible for its long distance calls.
To activate or change voice mail
- Inform your department head and provide a detailed explanation
of the type of service required
- Have the department head contact extension 718.951.5533 to
activate the voice mail
- After you receive your new or changed voice mail port, you will
be prompted to set up your greeting, name and to change your default
password from 0000 to a password of your choice.
NOTE Complete instructions for setting up your voice mail
are provided on the Telecommunications
website and in the Brooklyn College Directory.
To report a malfunctioning pay phone
- Call 718.951.5010 with the location and number of the phone
and a Verizon tech will be dispatched to repair it.
