How do I get or upgrade a computer?

The college is committed to ensuring that all full-time faculty and staff are equipped with a suitable desktop computer. All new full-time faculty are allocated a desktop computer upon arrival. In addition, the college follows an equipment replacement cycle through which each faculty member's PC will be upgraded or replaced periodically. Direct requests for computer equipment, including software applications and accessories, to the department chair. In some cases, requests that cannot be funded by the department budget can be approved and forwarded by the Chair to the Provost's Technology Committee for possible funding from annual college-wide budget allocations.

How do I get connected to the college network?

Contact ITS, 718 951 5861. Your request must be in writing and must identify the type of computer you want connected to the network.

How do I get a network account (Login ID)?

Pick up an application from the Receptionist in 0607 Plaza or at the Faculty Lab - 019 Library. See Chapter XII: Appendix for an application.

How do I get an E-mail account?

How do I reset, change or retrieve a password?

  1. Passwords can often be reset the same day.
  2. Call ITS, 718 951 5861.
    Be prepared to tell us which network or server you are on, if you are using a CUNY password or an e-mail password, and a
    telephone number where you can be reached.

How do I request the installation of network cabling for an office or lab?

Submit a written request to the Director of Computing Services (ITS) specifying the facility, equipment, and number of computers
to be connected.

How do I reserve a computer room or presentation space?

How do I acquire new software?

How do I get help creating a website for my courses or myself?

For website creation, contact Academic Information Technologies (AIT), 718 951 4634.

How do I post a web page for my department?

Obtain an FTP application from the ITS Network Group, 718 951 6180. Training is available from ITS in the use of the FTP facility.

How can I access student record information for advisement purposes?

SALI (Student Access LAN Interface) provides easy, windows-based access to student transcripts, rosters, and tallies. If you have a
compatible computer, you can get a SALI ID from your department chair. Training and documentation are available from ITS, 718 951 5861.
If you need to update student records, or post permissions and over tallies, you must apply for a SIMS ID. Contact the Registrar for
SIMS IDs, 718 951 5693 (1118 Boylan Hall).
