SALI (SIMS Access LAN Interface) is a LAN client server application developed by ITS to provide easy access to SIMS data via the college network. SALI is Windows-based and is a supplement to the SIMS system.
SALI provides instant access on-screen and in printed formats for:
SALI has been highly praised after being demonstrated for the CUNY Board of Trustees
and representatives of several CUNY colleges. In fact, CUNY has decided to implement SALI
centrally for all SIMS connected colleges.
SALI is practical and user-friendly: it can find students by partial or full name, or by student ID number. It can search courses by reference number, or by entering detailed identifiers. SALI’s data is updated from BC/SIMS on the CUNY mainframe systems daily; multiple term records are also maintained and updated. SALI can select student records based on criteria such as:
SALI does not require specialized printers and can be printed on any local or LAN-based Windows compatible printer. The SALI client software is available for Windows 3.1, Windows 95 and Windows NT.
SALI has degrees of user-level security with the ability to admit or restrict access through personal IDs configured for specific disciplines or courses. The IDs will be created by departmental "superusers" in a distributed departmental hierarchy. The activities are tracked and confirmed by the Registrar’s Office.
Congratulations to ITS’s Alex Rotkop and June Jones for outstanding work in developing and implementing the new SALI system. For more information or questions contact

Exchange Migration Status
The conversion to MS Exchange has been delayed due to a shortage of support staff. The MS-Mail system will continue to operate untill all users are converted. Help Desk Manager Peggy Bergamasco says that, "Instead of converting the college en masse, the plan is to complete work that has been back-logged and to convert the remaining users server by server." All new users go directly onto MS-Exchange.
We appreciate your patience while we seek to minimize interruptions and maintain service and support for the networks and servers.
