ITS: Movin' on up!

ITS: Movin' on up! Next summer, ITS relocates to its new home on the fourth floor of the Library addition. Although some space will continue to be used in the Plaza building, the bulk of ITS will be in a new and more accessible address right on the quad!

In this new state-of-the-art facility many of ITS' disparate functions will be consolidated.

One of the most exciting additions is the modern Network Operations Center providing efficient organization and monitoring of all of the campus' networking systems.

The two conference rooms, one being the stunning octagonal meeting room, will be outfitted with built in projection and multimedia capabilities. An eight-computer station mini-seminar room is also part of the layout.

Included in future plans for ITS' new home is the implementation of a modern card-key security access system. ITS looks forward to moving into its new home four stories above ground, with windows!

Spotlight on Staff
Leonora Kissis

Leonora Kissis joined the ITS staff as a part time Web developer and graphic artist. As a student in BC's CIS department, ITS provided a convenient arena for Leonora to apply her designing abilities.

Prior to joining the computer center, Leonora was a Web developer at a marriage agency, a job she describes as highly entertaining. "It was so interesting, everyone was looking for 'their ideal mates,' but they don't exist. People just have to be able to communicate."

Leonora enjoys working as a web developer and graphic designer because she can see her work developing. After a page is up, she can literally point to the work she's created and say, "That's mine. I made that happen." The tangible nature of her successes makes web developing highly rewarding for this creative designer.

Leonora's Design Station Since starting at ITS, Leonora has been hard at work updating and revising the BC Website. To keep the site current and to make sure information is easily available to the BC community, Leonora creates or updates numerous pages of graphics and web materials each week. (For a glance at one of Leonora's most recent accomplishments see, "Visit the New ITS Website.")

Leonora works with administrative offices and academic departments to help them design and implement webpages. She trains users to maintain and update the web pages after they have been constructed. She is also the person to contact for any additions or alterations to existing BC webpages.

Outside of her busy work and school schedules, Leonora loves to read. Historical fiction is one of her favorite genres because is gives her a chance to learn while relaxing. She also enjoys science fiction movies, especially Aliens.

Visit the BC website often to check out Leonora's work as it develops
