Brooklyn, N.Y. -- Brooklyn College has reaffirmed its commitment to the SEEK (Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge) Program, which has provided academic support to economically and educationally disadvantaged students throughout the City University of New York for the past thirty years.
SEEK was created in 1966 to advance the cause of equality of educational opportunity in New York State.
"Our goal is to provide SEEK students with opportunities, support, and assistance that will enable them to succeed in their educational aspirations," said Christoph M. Kimmich, president of Brooklyn College. "The Brooklyn College administration will continue to work with the central administration in CUNY to ensure and to strengthen the ongoing support of the SEEK program by the New York State legislative and executive bodies."
Brooklyn College, founded in 1930 and located on a twenty-six acre
tree-lined campus in Flatbush, is one of the eleven senior colleges of the
City University of New York. It enrolls 15,000 undergraduate and graduate
students who are representative of the diverse population of Brooklyn and
New York City. The school is nationally known for its core curriculum,
which has been hailed as one of the "bright spots" in American higher
education.
