Spotlight ArchiveBrooklyn, NY - Tanya Newland, a sophomore majoring in accounting at Brooklyn College, has received the Astoria Federal Savings 1998-99 Scholarship.
Newland, a graduate of Sheepshead Bay High School, was selected by the Committee on Honors and Scholarships at Brooklyn College to receive an award of $2,500 for the 1998-99 academic year. She was chosen on the basis of academic potential and excellence as well as financial need.
"In awarding the scholarship to Ms. Newland, Astoria Federal Savings demonstrates once again its commitment to the young people of New York City," said Barbara A. Taylor, vice-president for institutional advancement. "Brooklyn College is grateful to the bank for its commitment and support."
