Brooklyn, N.Y. -- Twenty-nine faculty members from Brooklyn College will be honored at a reception to be held at the Pierpont Morgan Library on Monday, December 11, at 5:30 p.m. At the event, the City University of New York will acknowledge faculty who have received major awards and fellowships during the past year. In all, 182 faculty members from 17 of CUNY's 20 campuses are to be honored.

Among the Brooklyn College faculty honorees are Ford Foundation grant recipient Anthony Stevens-Arroyo, professor of Puerto-Rican and Latina studies and director of the Office of Research for Religion in Society and Culture; Pulitzer Prize-winning professor of history Edwin G. Burrows; distinguished professor of geology Gerald M. Friedman; Samuel H. Kress Foundation grant recipient Dee Clayman, professor of classics; and National Science Foundation grant recipient Lori L. Scarlatos, assistant professor of computer and information science.

"We are fortunate to have outstanding faculty and to see them recognized for their important accomplishments," said Brooklyn College President Christoph M. Kimmich. "They reflect the strength of the College's scholarship and our overall commitment to excellence."

Brooklyn College, founded in 1930, is one of the 11 senior colleges of the City University of New York. Located on a 26-acre tree-lined campus in Flatbush, it enrolls 15,000 undergraduate and graduate students who are representative of the diverse population of Brooklyn and New York City.
