Spotlight ArchiveBrooklyn, NY - Brooklyn College now allows graduate students to apply for admission on-line via the college's Web site, using the power of the Internet to simplify the application procedure for potential students.
The new service makes filling out an application form and sending it to the admissions office a one-step process. Students may fill out the form and submit it immediately or complete the process in stages, accessing the document with a password and submitting it when it is complete. In the past, a student would have to pick up an application or have one mailed to his or her home and then would have to mail it back to the college. The new on-line Web-based system can shorten this process by a week or more.
"We want our service to students to begin even before they apply," said Lincoln Sessoms, Brooklyn College's assistant vice-president for Enrollment Services. "We've worked hard to provide information to them via the Web as well as with written materials. We want all of our potential students to know that we are a student-centered college."
The college is also developing an on-line scholarship application that may be used by undergraduate and graduate students to apply for any of the more than 500 scholarships offered by the college.
