The question of academic standards continues to make headlines. While the discussion of academic excellence is debated by columnists and newspaper editorial writers, members of the faculty at Brooklyn College and prominent educators will address the issue at a special conference on the college’s nationally recognized core curriculum.

"For sixteen years, Brooklyn College has provided the well-rounded liberal arts educational background that individuals require to excel in the modern world," said Robert Viscusi, professor of English and executive officer of the Ethyle R. Wolfe Institute for the Humanities. "The core curriculum is composed of thirteen courses in the liberal arts, social sciences, science, and the arts and serves as a benchmark of quality."

"Standard Bearer of Excellence: Brooklyn College’s Core Curriculum" will be held Tuesday, April 7, from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Student Union Building, Campus Road and East 27 Street. A reception will be held at 5:30 p.m.
