A letter from Vice President Sillen
Dear Colleagues and Students,
I am very pleased to introduce Monday Morning, our new e-newsletter devoted to Brooklyn College campus-wide announcements, issues, and news. I have long been concerned that emails, announcements, and news tend to be highly directed to focused audiences (faculty, staff, students) so that it is difficult to see all that is happening on Campus on a weekly basis. Monday Morning was conceived of as a way of both streamlining access to information, and showcasing the full vitality of academic life at the college. As a public and shared space, it is directed to students, staff, and faculty, but accessible to all. As we are a commuter campus, this seems like an especially important and long overdue project.
A tremendous amount of work has gone into the development of Monday Morning, and this has included a number of beta-versions, student feedback workshops, and presentations to administrators and the Executive Commitee. I particularly want to thank the design team, Lisa Panazzolo and Joe LoGuirato; ITS; Nancy Strein; and all of the members of the Expanded Executive who read and commented on early versions.
I also want to thank Moraima Burgos (Coordinator of Student Campus Publications); Alan Gilbert (AVP, Finance); John Hamill (Director of Communications); Michael Hewitt (AVP, Human Resources); Jerry Mirotznik (Associate Provost); and Jennifer Rubain (Director of Affirmative Action, Compliance and Diversity) for agreeing to serve on an Editorial Panel to ensure Monday Morning continues to meet the needs of the entire campus community.
Ernesto Mora and Lisa Panazzolo have worked tirelessly to incorporate ideas and suggestions as they have come in, and I know everyone will join me in supporting both of them as they undertake the ongoing task of preparing Monday Morning each week during the Fall and Spring Semesters.
Start your week with Monday Morning! I know I will.
Sincerely,
Andrew Sillen
