CUNY A!ert Status
This week will see the final steps taken in our go-live plan for the CUNY Alert System with the State Emergency Management Office (SEMO).  While SEMO had several remaining tasks to complete before activating the system, most were accomplished by close of business on Friday, March 14th.
By now, several members of your campus community have received training on how to create an emergency alert message.  CIS staff is currently verifying that these individuals have received their system credentials to log on to the system and are prepared to generate an alert message if necessary.
Working with your trained administrators, we are planning a system-wide test message to be sent out tomorrow March 18.  At that time, one of your school’s administrators will sign in and generate a pre-approved alert message provided below:

This is a test of the CUNY Alert system.  This is NOT an emergency. CUNY Alert has now been activated.  For the purpose of this text you will only receive this message via email.

If this had been an actual emergency, Brooklyn College would use CUNY Alert to provide you with important information about an actual emergency on campus.

You may receive this message more than once if you provided more than one email address or selected more than one campus when you signed up.  Go to https://www.cuny.edu/alert anytime to manage your alert contact information.

Please encourage others to sign up for CUNY Alert at https://www.cuny.edu/alert
