A letter from President Kimmich
Would you please take a minute to send an e-mail to New York State Legislators?
The budget for the coming year will have a tremendous impact on Brooklyn College. It is being negotiated right now. We need to let the legislators know that Brooklyn College would like their support. And we have just a few days left before the final decisions are made.
To do this, all you need is a computer and a few minutes. CUNY has a website, www.supportcuny.org/ which will automatically send your message to the members of the New York State Legislature. You may use one of the draft letters that are provided or write your own.
Be sure to mention this year's priorities for Brooklyn College:
* Construction of the Roosevelt Hall Science Complex: A total of $349.8 million over the next four years;
* Completion of the West Quad Project: $22.7 million;
* Construction of the Performing Arts Center: $29 million; and,
* The CUNY Compact: $71.2 million. (This supports hiring fulltime faculty, advisers, and student services, to name a few uses of these funds.)
Please write – and ask three of your friends to do so as well. Your support matters.
Christoph M. Kimmich
P.S. State law prohibits our using state-owned computers for these purposes. Your e-mail should be sent either from your home computer or, if you prefer, from a computer located in certain specified facilities on campus. Please see below for a list of computers that may be used.
