LaGuardia Community College Hosts CUNY Women’s Leadership Conference
From April 9 to April 19, LaGuardia Community College is hosting the CUNY Women’s Leadership Conference featuring women leaders from business, education and health professions.
Former U. S. Surgeon General, Dr. M. Joycelyn Elders, will give the keynote address, Breaking Barriers and Glass Ceilings: Women Leading for Change on April 18 at 10:30.
Guest presenters who will be facilitating the workshops include:
- Dr. Ann Webster of the Institute for Mind-Body Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital;
- Dr. Jean Lau Chin, author of Women and Leadership: Transforming Visions and Diverse Voices and dean of the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi; and
- Trisha Scudder and Herma Schmitz of the Executive Coaching Group.
Throughout the conference, faculty, staff and students will be engaged in stimulating conversations on relevant women’s issues.
CUNY students can participate in a series of personal and professional development workshops on time management and productivity; developing and taking care of our personal selves; and creating professional presence and community influence.
The CUNY Women’s Leadership Initiative was launched in 2005 to encourage CUNY student leaders to embrace their potential as educated, engaged members of society. Through internships, workshops, curricular opportunities and a public policy institute, the Initiative, guided by a committee led by CUNY’s women college presidents, seeks to advance fresh ideas about policy and practice.
The conference will be held at LaGuardia’s Long Island City campus at 31-10 Thomson Avenue, just 15 minutes from Times Square. For more information, please visit www.peopleware.net/2857
