Hostos Community College Plans 2008 Earth Day Celebration

In keeping with the United Nations’ theme of Water for Life and Global Warming, Hostos Community College, Department of Natural Sciences will lead an Earth Day celebration with symposia, presentations, exhibits, and a series of activities beginning on Wednesday, April 9, 2008.
“During the celebration, we will be launching the Green Apple Project at the college,” said Hostos President Dolores M. Fernández. “This project will include a recycling program geared to the ‘greening’ of the South Bronx community surrounding our campus.”
The theme of 2008’s Earth Day celebration is Greening Your Lifestyle: Be Part of the Change.
Nearly 100 students and many faculty and staff members are expected to attend.
Activities will take place in the Savoy Multipurpose Room, Faculty Dinning Room (FDR), the Bridge and the Building C lobby. Hostos Community College is located near the Major Deegan Expressway on 450 Grand Concourse at 149th Street in the Bronx, just steps from the subway and bus stop. By subway take the #2, 4 or 5 IRT train to 149th Street and the Grand Concourse. By bus take Bx1 or cross-town Bx 19 to 149th Street and Grand Concourse.
