Members of the facilities staff and architects who have been working on the new West Quad project hosted a town hall meeting last week to give the Brooklyn College community a sneak peek of the new amenities. The shiny new building will be complete with—among other things--three racquetball courts, a new NCAA-regulation pool and basketball court, four exercise labs and a fourth floor view that spans all the way to the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. Skylights and glass will abound.
“It’s meant to be a building that’s alive with activity,” said Ken Dietz, an architect with Rafael Vinoly Architects, which was contracted to design the new facilities. Construction of the new 65-foot-tall building set to be complete by December of this year and student services and athletics staff will begin to occupy the building starting next January. |
