On a bright, sunny Tuesday last week, President Christoph Kimmich, VP Andrew Sillen and Dean Milga Morales, followed by a fast contingent of student volunteers, donned casual clothes and got down to business on the first of Brooklyn College’s Volunteer Days. Assisted by campus staff, they first planted a young tree in front of the library. They then tried on a light hazmat suit before touching up a couple pedestals by the college’s Flatbush Ave. gate. Later, all the president’s men and women went to the Hillel’s parking lot to clean up the graffiti with a hose before heading to the Student Center, where they moss up the gate.
The BC Volunteers Program is a biannual initiative that began in 2000 and encourages participation from the entire campus community. These photos tell the story.
