Caribbean Week is an annual celebration of the Caribbean culture and people on the Brooklyn College campus. Each year, the Caribbean Student Union stages a series of events in an effort to showcase Caribbean food, music, dance and, culture. This year, the celebrations began on Tuesday, April 29.
Wednesday, May 7 was the coronation of Ms. Barbados, Malaiyka Reid, as Ms. Caribbean 2008. Festivities continued throughout the week with sporting events and the annual football match between CSU and NBSSO. Special guests Assemblyman Nick Perry and Golden Krust CEO Lowell Hawthorne, among others, were honored during the Award Dinner Celebration on Thursday night.
The Caribbean week culminated Friday night with its traditional Unity Fete.
