Celebrate Neighborhood Day in Brooklyn, beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, in Brooklyn Borough Hall. See the new exhibit about big changes in Brooklyn during the 1970s and '80s. Hear neighborhood activists and reporters in panel discussions. Tell your own "Brooklyn Story" at the oral history studio and become part of the history of the times. Be part of a live television show about the 1970s and '80s led by famed Brooklyn writer Pete Hamill. ....| more

On Thursday, May 17, the Conservatory of Music will present a free performance by the Brooklyn College Big Band, directed by Salim Washington. The concert will begin at 2 p.m. in Whitman Hall and will feature the music of Duke Ellington, Fred Ho, Thad Jones, Makanda Ken McIntyre, and other jazz masters. ....| more

Featuring two of today's hottest klezmer bands, "Klezmerized" provides music that is full of the celebration of life. Violinist/Composer Alicia Svigals has toured internationally, recorded five albums, and been featured on numerous national radio and television programs, including A Prairie Home Companion, Good Morning America, MTV News, and BBC television and radio. Metropolitan Klezmer returns to the Brooklyn Center on Sunday, May 20, with their superb musicianship, bringing to this panoramic repertoire an inspired, inventive approach that is "serious, melancholy, exhilarating and funny." ....| more

Monday: The Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music will host the Composers Concert II at 7 p.m. in Levenson Recital Hall.

Tuesday: The Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music will host the Conservatory Jazz Ensemble at 7 p.m. in Levenson Recital Hall.

Wednesday: The Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music, directed by Paul Corn, will host the Conservatory Wind Ensemble at 7 p.m. in Whitman Theater.

Thursday: This is the last day of classes for the spring semester. The Conservatory Orchestra performs at 6 p.m. in Whitman Hall.

Friday: The Conservatory of Music will host Opera Scenes at 7 p.m. in Levenson Hall.

Saturday: Final exams begin today and go through Friday, May 25.
