Brooklyn College Foundation Welcomes New Members
Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei
Brooklyn College is pleased to announce two new members of the Brooklyn
College Foundation Board of Trustees. Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei
and Barry Feirstein will serve under the leadership of new chairman Marge
Magner in helping to further the Foundation's commitment to the educational
purposes of Brooklyn College.
The Brooklyn College Foundation provides vital financial support to the College, including scholarships to students, stipends to faculty, study abroad stipends, student programs, and funds to implement innovative classroom instruction. The Brooklyn College Foundation is a 501(c) 3 charitable organization mandated to encourage and promote the educational purposes of Brooklyn College of the City University of New York and the educational welfare of its students in their relations with each other, the members of the faculty, the alumni and the community.
Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei is the founder and chairman of the Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine, which has treated hundreds bone disorders in the people of Ghana and Barbados. Dr. Boachie-Adjei graduated from Brooklyn College in 1976 with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Since 1994 he has been the chief of the scoliosis service at the hospital for Special Surgery and is currently professor of orthopedic surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College and attending orthopedic surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery and New York Presbyterian Hospital. Boachie-Adjei has invented several groundbreaking patented spine surgery devices.
In 2003 he was the Brooklyn College commencement speaker and received
a Distinguished Alumnus Award from the College. He was named one
of New York's best doctors in New York magazine's June 2005 issue.
Barry Feirstein is the managing member of Feirstein Capital Management, LLC, and the president and sole owner of Feirstein Capital Management Corporation. Feirstein received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Brooklyn College in 1974. He also holds an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business. He founded Feirstein Capital in January 1993, and established Feirstein Partners, LP. and Feirstein Offshore Fund, Inc., investment vehicles that focus on U.S. securities. Before founding Feirstein Capital, he was a managing director of Equitable Capital and technology analyst for the predecessor of Equitable Capital from 1978 through 1984.
