CASD 4647 Dark Side of Communication
3 hours, 3 credits
Explores the dark side of communication. Examines the many ways in which aversive and problematic communication operates across a variety of personal, intercultural, and organizational relationship contexts. Topics include deception, shame, hurtful transgressions, conflict, infidelity, teasing and bullying, verbal abuse, trolling and online stalking or intimidation, and avoidance and secrets. A research-based approach to understanding these undesirable yet very common communicative messages.
