ENGL 3131 Poetry and Prose of the Restoration and Eighteenth Century
4 hours; 4 credits
Neoclassical and pre-romantic literature. Poetry and prose of such writers as Dryden, Pope, Astell, Swift, Johnson, Addison and Steele, Burke, Gray, Wheatley, Wollstonecraft, and Edgeworth. Topics may include: courtship and marriage; education; feminism; political satire; manners and virtue; nature and beauty; the country and the city.
Prerequisite: ENGL 1010; or corequisite ENGL. 1012.
