HIST 3231 Modern France

Social, cultural, and political history of France from 1789 to the present. Cycles of revolution and reaction, labor, gender, the role of French culture in the world, experiences and memories of war, the impacts of empire, decolonization, and migration, and the place of France in the construction of Europe.
