As introduction to the content, formation, transmission, and interpretation of the Bible and the Apocrypha from antiquity through the Middle Ages. Topics include the canon of the Bible; Aprocrypha and Pseudepigrapha; biblical versions; Dead Sea scrolls and the Bible; and biblical interpretation. (Not open to students who completed Judaic Studies 4751 [75.1] in Fall 1995 or Spring 1998.)
