PRLS 3203 Latino/a Diasporas in the United States

Formation of Latino/a diasporas in the United States. Legacy of indigenous societies, colonization. African diasporas in Latin America. Racial formation. Latin American societies. Demographic patterns, (im)migration, settlement and community development. Issues of citizenship, racism, and discrimination. Transnationalism and transnational identities. (Not open to students who have completed Core Curriculum 3203.) 2017-2018: Satisfies Pathways College Option requirement. Starting Fall 2018 Satisfies Pathways Flexible Core US Experience in Its Diversity requirement.

Prerequisite: Junior standing
