FILM 7016G History of Film Narrative

30 hours lecture, 30 hours lab; 3 credits

Review the different storytelling challenges with which cinema has engaged throughout its evolution. Pairing movies from different times and countries, the course will provide students with both a panoramic timeline of international cinema and a thorough discussion of the ideas that have shaped the criteria of what constitutes a powerful film narrative.

Prerequisite: Matriculation in the M.F.A. in Cinema Arts and permission of the program director.
