Agricultural change and the commercial revolution. The Crusades. Jewish-Christian-Muslim relations. Universities and Scholasticism. Chivalry. Mysticism. The Church and the Papacy. The Black Plague. Romanesque and Gothic art and architecture. The development of the nation states and empires of Europe. The 'birth' of 'modernity.'
