A historical overview of the values, institutions, and cultural heritage of Spain from its origins to the mid-twentieth century. Discussions and frequent writing assignments using a variety of approaches and supplementary materials from the Spanish print, broadcast, and electronic media. Field trips to museums and cultural events. May be taken concurrently with or after Spanish *2018 [4.8], 2020 [11.1], or 11.2W. (Not open to students who have completed Spanish 50 or 51.)

Prerequisite: Spanish 1030 or permission of the chairperson.
