Alternate Teacher Programs

The alternative teacher certification program is offered by the School of Education and is informally known as Teaching Fellows. This program aims to attract people from professions outside the field of education who are committed to bringing their varied talents and experience into the New York City public schools. It is designed for individuals who already have a bachelor’s degree and who require preparation in education in order to make the transition into teaching.

If you are interested in becoming a Teaching Fellow, you must first apply directly to the New York City Teaching Fellows at http://www.nycteachingfellows.org. Eligibility for Admissions can be found on their Web site http://www.nyctf.org/whocanbe/eligibility.html.
