The BOSC Summer Science Program

Brooklyn Opportunities in Science and Careers

Summer Science Program 2008

The BOSC Summer Science Program is a free six-week program, worth one Brooklyn College credit, that will introduce you to a supportive learning environment, help you to develop better study habits and improve your quantitative reasoning/problem solving skills. You will have the opportunity to go on field trips to centers of science and science education in the New York area, such as the American Museum of Natural History, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brookhaven National Laboratories, and fossil hunting in Big Brook, NJ.

The program is composed of workshop sessions in a variety of areas, including orientation to key college resources, introduction to various science majors at the College, structured research experiences, and study skills development. You will meet high-level professionals in a variety of fields at their workplace to learn first hand about how their professions integrate and use skills gained and knowledge from the sciences.

The BOSC Summer Program runs from July 7 through August 14 and meets Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., except on field trip days when we may run longer.

All students will be enrolled in a credit-bearing course during the summer program, either Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1, or Intro to Computer Programming. Tuition for this course will be free, an  approximately $760.00 value.
