The Department of Performance and Interactive Media Arts embraces and fosters an expansive definition of art and acknowledges the blurring of boundaries between the arts, between fine and commercial art, and between art and science. The department promotes the idea that computer programming is an important and exciting art form for contemporary practitioners. Drawing courses from the Departments of Art, Computer & Information Science, Television & Radio, Theater, and the Conservatory of Music, PIMA provides instruction in experimental, transdisciplinary artistic production with a focus on the use of technology as a means of extending personal artistic practice and facilitating cross-disciplinary artistic collaborations.
Master of Fine Arts (MFA) and Advanced Certificate programs are offered to graduate students.
