Facilities

AREAC is a 15,000 sq. ft facility dedicated to basic and applied studies of aquatic organisms and the environments they inhabit. The saltwater area (10,000 sq. ft) is a re-circulating seawater system, allowing control of temperature, salinity, and photoperiod. There is also a separate, 3,000 sq. ft. lab for growing and experimentation of freshwater organisms. A 2,000 sq. ft. adjacent lab is equipped for various analyses, including morphology, immunochemistry, molecular biology, and biochemical assays, and water quality.
