Department of Biology laboratories are well equipped for studies that require cell and molecular, biochemical, biophysical, and bioinformatic approaches.

AREAC is a 15,000 square-foot facility dedicated to basic and applied studies of aquatic organisms and the environments they inhabit. The saltwater area (10,000 square feet) is a re-circulating seawater system, allowing control of temperature and salinity, and photoperiod. There is also a separate, 3,000 square-foot lab for growing and experimentation of freshwater organisms. A 2,000 square-foot adjacent lab is equipped for various analyses, including morphology, immunochemistry, molecular biology, and biochemical assays, and water quality.
