ABOUT US
The Children’s Studies Center for Research, Policy and Public Service at Brooklyn College was established in 1997. The Center concentrates on pedagogy, research, and public service to the community. Major activities of the Center are participation in local, national, and international research efforts on behalf of children and youth and assistance to governmental and advocacy agencies as well as community-based organizations in their work on behalf of children and young people.

RECENT NEWS AND EVENTS
- The City University of New York posted two podcasts on their website featuring presentations from our National Consultation, Social Justice for Children: To End Child Abuse and Violence Against Children. The podcasts are titled, "Meeting the Challenge of Child Abuse" and "The Violent Roots of Adult Self-Loathing."
- The Kingsman wrote an article about the Children's Studies Center for Research, Policy and Public Service titled, "Children's Studies Center Demands End to Violence against Children."
- The Children's Studies Center for Research, Policy and Public Service held a National Consultation, Social Justice for Children: To End Child Abuse and Violence Against Children, on November 4, 2011 at the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. - News on the Children's Studies Center for Research, Policy and Public Service was featured in the Summer 2011 issue of Child and Youth News, the ASA Section on the Sociology of Children Newsletter.
- In 2010, the Center was highlighted in the U.S. First Periodic Report Concerning the Optional Protocol on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography (OPSC) and Response to Recommendations in Committee Concluding Observations of June 25, 2008 (in paragraphs 102 and 103) as an example of the "essential role of academic and nonprofit institutions," both with regard to the Third Child Policy Forum of New York at the Church Center of the United Nations on the Optional Protocol and to its policy research and work on the independent Office of the Child Advocate (the latter a recommendation to the U.S. for the implementation of OPSC by the U.N. Committee.)
