Center for the Study of Brooklyn

Welcome

The Center for the Study of Brooklyn, based at Brooklyn College, is the first and only research center devoted exclusively to the study of public affairs and policy issues in the borough.

The Center provides access to relevant data and conducts pioneering research.  It is a catalyst for critical change via strategic planning and inclusive civic engagement.

The major goals of the Center for the Study of Brooklyn are:

1. Providing access to and producing relevant data and research for and with government, academic, cultural, health and research institutions; community groups; media; local businesses, and direct service providers.

2. Serving as a catalyst for critical change by building networks among these Brooklyn groups, facilitating strategic planning and implementing collaborative community-based initiatives that inform and enhance policy, programmatic and funding decisions in the borough.

    3. Facilitating civic engagement among the residents of Brooklyn and the organizations and institutions that serve them.
