    Ray Allen, a professor in the Conservatory of Music, has conducted research that included ethnography of gospel performance based heavily on Brooklyn gospel groups. Other published work by Allen includes chapters on Brooklyn-based West Indian and Haitian music cultures.

    A professor in the Conservatory of Music, Douglas Cohen works with the Brooklyn College Center for Computer Music and the bi-annual International Electro-Acoustic Music Festival to promote the work of Brooklyn composers while bringing to Brooklyn the music of colleagues from around the world. Cohen has collaborated with the Brooklyn-based 501(c)3 arts organizations LEMUR, Galapagos Art Space, Issue Project Room and Electronic Music Foundation.
