I have worked as a program evaluator and director of research in two community mental health centers in Arizona and taught college students for 30 years. I earned a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My research interests have focused primarily on bereavement and adolescents, and recently in bereavement among college students. NIMH and PSC-CUNY awarded me grants to examine the topic. I wrote a college text on adolescent development and co-edited Handbook of Adolescent Death and Bereavement. Three other persons and I edited Handbook of Thanatology: The Essential Body of Knowledge for the Study of Death, Dying, and Bereavement. I co-edited a book on Adolescent Encounters with Death, Bereavement, and Coping and am co-editing a companion book on childhood encounters with the same. My favorite music is jazz.
