Recent Film Graduates

King Wai-Cheung's (class of 2002) film "Farewell Hong Kong" screened at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. He is now completing his feature-length screenplay Connie's Apple, based on a true murder case in New York City. The script won the 2001 Special Mention Award in the "Mythical" Script Competition, which was founded by actress Michelle Yeoh ("Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon").

Daniel Lugo (class of 2001) won Best Student Film at the 2000 Latino Film Festival for his film "Faith." The film has recently screened at the New Filmmaker's Series at the Anthology Film Archives in Manhattan. He has also worked for the Independent Feature Project, an organization that coordinates the annual Independent Feature Market - one of the biggest film markets in the U.S.

Whitney Orphee's (class of 2000) film "A Teenage Love" won an award at the 2000 Harlem Film Festival and was a finalist for the 2001 Hollywood Black Film Festival.

Masha Godovannaya (class of 1998) has curated programs of Recent Russian Experimental Video & Animation, screening at the prestigious Anthology Film Archives in New York City.

Mevlut Akkaya (class of 1998), who continues his work as a presenter of Turkish Films, has had his film "A Jazz Story" screened at the Anthology Film Archives. He currently teaches production and directing at the Digital Film Academy in NYC.

Oren Moverman (class of 1992) is co-author and Associate Producer of the recent feature film "Jesus' Son." A film adaptation from the collection of short stories by Dennis Johnson, the film comprises of ten stories narrated by a young recovering alcoholic, whose dependency has led him to crime, cruelty, and loss in the Midwest. The film was screened at the Telluride Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. Oren is currently directing an original screenplay he has written ("A Hiding Place"), which stars Ian Holm ("The Fifth Element") and Naveen Andrews ("The English Patient"). Oren is also writing scripts, as well as doing rewrites for directors. He has completed a script for Joan Chen, the actress-turned-director. "Jesus' Son" was picked up by Lion's Gate for U.S. theatrical distribution and Alliance for world distribution.

Christine Gee-Lowry is script supervisor for the hit series "The Sopranos" on HBO.

Steven Gladstone recently opened his own production/post-production facility: http://www.gladstonefilms.com/.

Cliff Charles recently worked as Director of Photography on Spike Lee's HBO documentary "When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts."
