Academic Counseling for Psychology Majors

Students can always receive counseling about departmental requirements from individual faculty members during their regular office hours. In addition,the Department has a counseling office in room 5315 James, staffed by professors from the Department and Ellen Grivas, the Department's undergraduate secretary. Counseling hours are posted each semester outside the department office.

Counseling can help in several ways:

• selection of courses for the next or coming semesters
• discussion about the advisability of majoring in Psychology (all majors must declare their major with the Department in this office), and
• guidance in applying to graduate schools.

Besides advice from faculty counselors, the office has information on graduate schools, a collection of graduate school bulletins, and other material of interest to prospective graduate students, including students from underrepresented groups.
