Mission of the Psychology Department

The mission of the Department of Psychology is to encourage its students to become thoughtful, productive citizens and life-long learners. We seek to:
  1. instill in our students an understanding of psychology as a science
  2. promote human welfare and serve society at large
  3. foster student growth and development, and
  4. prepare students for graduate training and to serve professionally in the field of psychology (for students who wish to pursue such options).

This departmental mission comes in the context of the larger college mission to serve its unusually diverse student population.
