Financial Resources at Brooklyn College

In order to be eligible for the following resources you must be a degree seeking student in good academic standing. Please note that these resources are one shot assistance:

The Brooklyn College Carroll and Milton Petrie Student Emergency Grant Fund

The Carroll and Milton Petrie Student Emergency Grant Fund has been created for the purpose of providing quick response emergency grants to students in good standing with short-term financial emergencies, to enable them to remain in school, rather than being forced to take a leave of absence or drop out. View guidelines below.

The I. Mereese Ladson Hardship Loan Fund

The fund is named in honor of the late I. Mereese Ladson (1943 – 2004), Brooklyn College’s Comptroller and Business Manager from 1993 – 2004.

The I. Mereese Ladson Hardship Loan Fund is a no interest loan, designed to assist students in addressing those unexpected academic needs and sudden emergency situations which can significantly impact their academic performance and retention.

Applicants should be in good academic standing (for undergraduate – minimum GPA 2.0; for graduate students – minimum of 3.0). However, academic standing is only one factor. To allow for the appropriate consideration, all applicants are strongly encouraged to provide along with their application, the documentation of the need (e.g., eviction notice, official contact numbers).

The Gottschalk Memorial Loan Fund

In an effort to facilitate a high impact academic/co-curricular experience, The Gottschalk Memorial Loan Fund, a no interest loan, is available to students who are seeking an emergency supplemental loan for a study abroad or an invited conference opportunity. The educational opportunity for which the student is applying must be through a Brooklyn College or CUNY sanctioned study abroad program or conference.

Students Engaged in Responsible Volunteer Action (SERVA)-Micro Grant

Do you want to serve your community in Brooklyn, NYC and beyond? You may be eligible for the SERVA-Micro Grant for service and travel. You need to present a brief proposal describing what you intend to achieve if awarded this grant, and you may be chosen as a recipient. Please contact SERVA at serva@brooklyn.cuny.edu. View flyer here.
