Orientation

 Overview

As an incoming student, you are expected to begin your academic career by attending the New Student Orientation. Attending Orientation is your best way to acclimate to life here at Brooklyn College; become familiar with the campus, learn about student life and activities. In addition, you will have the opportunity to meet representatives from Academic Advisement, Financial Aid, Career Services, and other administrative offices that will be pertinent to your success here.

The Brooklyn College Campus Experience for entering freshman and transfer students will provide opportunities to meet the academic leadership of the college, network with current upper level students, experience the rich campus life of the college, and learn about the various services offered by the Division of Student Affairs and other administrative offices.

Graduate Students

Graduate students, you will get the opportunity to network with your fellow students and obtain information on the resources available on the campus, including career and internship opportunities, tips on virtual networking, the fitness center, student life and much more. Our goal is to provide you with the necessary tools to make your Graduate College experience a success, as well as to provide useful navigation strategies.

New Student Publications

Welcome to Brooklyn College! As a member of the BC Community, here are a few helpful links that will guide you through your college experience:

  1. The BC Guidepost: A handy guide with contact information to some of the most frequently visited offices on campus. There are both: Graduate and Undergraduate versions.
     
  2. Experiential curriculum: Provides you with important steps you should take each year towards becoming a successful student. An Experiential Curriculum is available for undergraduate and graduate students.
     
  3. The Student Handbook: Provides you with anything and everything you need to know to navigate the next few years at BC. It incorporates information on both academic and co-curricular life and is small enough to carry around as a reference book. Click here for the link. For a hard copy or CD version of the Handbook, visit the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, 2113 Boylan Hall.
     
  4. The BC Bulletin and Course Schedule: Provides you with course descriptions and registration information. You can view it along with the most recent updates here. You are responsible for knowing and complying with the regulations and procedures stated in these documents.
     
  5. Problems with classes, registration, professors or other students? Any sort of frustration or confusion you may face on campus can be addressed through the Office of Student Assistance & Referral (SAR). Located in 2106 Boylan Hall, the members of SAR will provide guidance and help just when you need it. Call them at 718-951-5352 or e-mail: studentsar@brooklyn.cuny.edu.
     
  6. Looking for housing? Apply now to live at the Residence Hall.
